O Hospital Universitário da Universidade de São Paulo (HU-USP), órgão complementar da Universidade de São Paulo, foi inaugurado em agosto de 1981 como primeiro hospital-escola de caráter comunitário dedicado à graduação de Medicina, Ciências Farmacêuticas, Odontologia, Nutrição, Enfermagem, Fisioterapia, Fonoaudiologia, Terapia Ocupacional e Psicologia. Recebe os residentes de várias áreas da Medicina, além de oferecer cursos de extensão em diversas áreas.

Trata-se de um hospital de complexidade média que integra atenção primária e terciária e que tem convênio exclusivo com o Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), sendo mantido pela USP. O HU tem um centro de pesquisa clínica próprio, bem como uma comissão de análise ética em pesquisa e alta produção científica, com destaque nas áreas materno-infantil e de saúde do adulto.
